Providence Road is an opportunity to change the trajectory of at-risk youth through nurturing relationships, character development, and trauma-informed care.
Founded in 2018, Providence Road is a call to action to effect change in the lives of underserved youth. By prioritizing the most vulnerable in our community, we create opportunities for you to change the life trajectory of a child in poverty.
Offering trauma-informed care and engaging programming to black youth (ages 10-16), Providence Road establishes meaningful and safe relationships between adults and youth to support each child’s social, spiritual, and emotional development. We are changing the trajectory of our community, one child at a time, by gathering those willing to step into hard places to make a difference for the future of Baton Rouge.

WHAT WE BELIEVE -Providence Road was built on the core belief that community change starts with the individual. By empowering youth with the tools, opportunities, and practice ground they need, we invite them to be strong for their community, their family, and their future. We instill in them the ideal that acts of service are mutually beneficial and open the door to a sense of ownership for their communities well being.
WHAT WE OFFER -We introduce youth to the concept that they can receive far more from their community than they can ever steal, flipping the survival narrative they are born into and introducing them to a renewed mindset. This shift in perspective allows youth the room to practice and develop the soft skills necessary to build a solid track record with their families, teachers, employers, and community as a whole.
HOW WE CONNECT -Providence Road’s program is supported by our unique cultivation approach which places the core needs of our target demographic at the center of our engagement model. By meeting youth in the area of their basic needs, we reiterate the core belief of the program that service of others and taking ownership of one’s community results in a better quality of life for the individual. We provide the safe space necessary for these youth to learn what it looks like to receive greatly.
